Saved as: “All is at Sevens & Sixes.doc”

A  light hearted  look at a very serious misconception.

Surely the above title is wrong?  Yes, quite right! And that is not the only thing that is wrong with “Sixes and Sevens” as we shall see below.,,,,,,,  So read on and weep!

Many present day Philosophers rejoice in the fact that there are SEVEN whole steps in the musical scale. For the musically minded readers, these, of course, are the steps between each of  doh,  ray,  me,  fah,  soh,  lah,  te and back to doh  again.  In the key of  C major, these steps would be between  C,   D,   E,   F,   G,   A,   B  and back to C  again.

The non- musical folks can now rejoin us!.  The reason for such rejoicing??  Well, they go on to try and show that the musical scale is all part of a Divine overall system of vibrations.  To mention just a couple == There are 7 days in a week and there are 7 basic colours in a rainbow, and the Bible is jam-packed full of seves for this that and the other..

However, there is a fly in this ointment, as all these writers are at  Sevens and Sixes!!   Why?, , , because you see my dear, there are, actually, only  SIX  whole steps in the musical scale and not  SEVEN, namely (for the musically minded again), in the key of ‘C’ major,,  there are only HALF-STEPS  (i.e. ‘SEMITONES’)  between E and F and between B and C. This is immediately apparent when looking at a keyboard, even for the non-musical, namely,   just by looking at the relative physical spacing of the black and the white notes..  So, to say that there are seven whole steps in a musical scale is a big fiddle (OOPS! I should rather have said a ‘misconception’!), and all these so called “coincidences” with other SEVENS in creation can be thrown out of the piano keyboard factory.

The foregoing misconception is just as ridiculous as saying that a “Week” has 24 hours between any two consecutive days EXCEPT BETWEEN WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY, and between SATURDAY AND SUNDAY., , ,THESE BEING SEPARATED BY ONLY 12 HOURS  INSTEAD OF 24.  I think this is an excellent  analogy and will say a big  A-MEN to it !!

However, all is not lost, as there are other FAR MUCH BETTER   Coincidences to replace them. We will look at these shortly, but first let’s look at this “PERFECT MUSICAL SCALE COMPRISING ONLY SIX WHOLE STEPS in its make-up.

This scale (for the musically minded again) would actually be (in the key of ‘C’ major):  C,   D,   E,   F#,   G#,   A#   and back to C again.   Six perfect steps ALSO means, of course, a total of Twelve Perfect Half-Steps (or “Semitones”).    But both  Six and Twelve are VERY powerful numbers in themselves, and have a lot going for them in the way of amazing coincidences with other things in Creation.

To list just a few of them ====

(a) According to the Bible, God made the world in SIX days (or ‘Epochs’ presumably).  (On the seventh, He was, of course, off to His ‘Time-Share’ at the coast for a well deserves rest!).            (Some say that on the  8th day He said  “O.K. over to you, now, Murphy” !!!)

(b) The 12 Signs of the Zodiac.

(c) The 12 months in a year

(d) The two lots of 12 hours in a day (i.e. before and after mid-day)

(e) The SIX pointed Star, consisting of the interlacing of  two eternal triangles thus joining the Spiritual Divine to the Human/Material,  often referred to as “The Star of David” or  “The Star of  Solomon” .

(f) The  12 pointed Star formed by the interlacing of two of the above 6 pointed stars that was a powerful symbol in Ancient Wisdom.

(g) Christ’s  12 Apostles

(h) The 12 Days of Christmas

(i) TWELVE in Numerology  signifies Perfection,  OF A VERY HIGHER ORDER  (i.e. Governmental, Authority etc:) (Christ’s 12 Apostles for example, already listed above).

(j) SIX or SIXTH occurs in the Bible approximately  86 times  (depending on which version  you are looking at),.

(k) TWELVE or TWELFTH occurs approximately 106 times (again depending upon which version)  and, believe it or not, they ALL relate to some aspect of GOVERNMENTAL PERFECTION (see (i) above)  In his book “GOD COUNTS”  W.E. Filmer points this out and gives many more amazing examples.

(l) I am saving the best till last ===  namely,  Modern Medical Science tells us that the Human DNA is comprised of a set of  SIX double Helix (i.e. ‘inter-twined’) Strands. It is said that Christ’s DNA as well as many of the Saints would have had DNA’s comprised of a set of  TWELVE complete single strands (and TWELVE is perfection of a very high order, remember!!!).

For the “Technically Minded”,  DNA stands for  De-oxy-ribo Nucleic Acid” and the paired strands are joined  by “Base Pairs” with definite specific “Partners”.  Guanine in one strand always “pairs with Cytosine in the other strand, and Adenine in the “Guanine Strand” always pairs with Thymine in the other (“Cytosine”) strand.  However, as we become more relaxed,  more worry-free and more ‘Spiritualized’, the two intertwined strands become less firmly bonded together. This has been proved in relaxation tests etc: (Hence perfect Christ-like ‘Spirituality’ would be just one complete set of  12  SINGLE STRANDS). This technical explanation is from    Greg Braden’s book  “The God Code” (not to be confused with the controversial book  “The Bible Code” by Michael Drosnin).

So, Six (and Twelve half steps) in place of Seven actually seems a great improvement does it not?!  It is not also truly amazing that this misrepresentation of the Musical Scale has not been spotted before, and writers blatantly falsely compare these erroneous “Seven Steps” to many coincidences of  “Sevens” in the world around us!

As a slight digression, but interesting, nevertheless, the number 72 is an extremely powerful number, being made up of  SIX TWELVES and TWELVE SIXES, not only this,  but look at the following:-

72 is made up of 72 once  ,,,,,,,,,, (72 x 1).

72 is made up of  36 two’s (36  =  6 x 6  )  ,,,,,,,,,,  (6 x 6 x2 )

72 is made up of 24 three’s (24 = 12 x 2) ,,,,,,,,,, (12 x 2  x 3 )

72 is made up of 4  eighteens ( 18 =  6 x 3) ,,,,,,,,, (3 x 4 x 6 )

72 is made up of 12 sixes  ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,  (6 x 12 ) WOW!

72 is made up of  one 72 times ,,,,,,,,,, ( 1 x 72 )

As a final shot in the eye, have you noticed that even above, there are SIX items !!!

72 is, therefore, probably the most versatile number that we have!

So, all in all, we are not sacrificing anything, by giving up the SEVEN, in fact, to my mind , SIX  and TWELVE are far more  beautiful and inspiring !!   As I said above “A great improvement”!!

Incidentally, also as a bit of a digression, Einstein recognized the power of “72” and he gave us an amazing tip regarding it. He called it his “Magic Seventy-two”. He showed that if you divide any Rate of Compound Interest, say, 12 %,  into 72, it will take exactly 6 years for the capital to double. , i.e. 72 divided by 12 = 6).   Similarly,   24% will double in  3 years, and 32% in 2 years and 72% in only ONE year, , so on). Neat  Hey Wot??!!

I wonder what got Einstein into contemplating about the number 72  in the first place?  It might have been the fact that it takes exactly72 years for the SUN to complete a processional shift of ONE DEGREE  along the elliptical path that results in its trip of 360 degrees around all the 12 points in the Zodiac. (72 times 360 equals) 25,920 years to complete one complete cycle of the Zodiac

A delightful  little story with which to end:,, , , ,  Talking about Einstein, did you know that the poor old chap, (like me !!), was absolutely hopeless at Mental Arithmetic? (Gosh! You don’t say !!!).   He was lost without a piece of paper to calculate on (me too!!!). But, give him a scrap of paper and he would invent things like “The Theory of Relativity”!!

There is a lovely story (quite true, so I believe) that, one day, whilst on a bus, he got hopelessly mixed up with his change. The conductor was very patient with him, and as he held out his hand the conductor explained the transaction step by step, putting and replacing coins in his hand. When all sorted out, Einstein thanked the conductor most profusely and apologized for being so stupid. “Only a pleasure” said the conductor, patting him on the shoulder  “Don’t worry old chap, WE CAN’T ALL BE EINSTEINS ” !!!!
